The Everest base camp trek is one of the most popular trekking adventures in Nepal. Everest base camp trek is awesome to experience the scenic view of the world’s highest peak Mount Everest. The journey to Everest base camp commences from the beautiful city of Nepal-Kathmandu with a short scenic mountain flight to Lukla airport. Best time for EBC Trek:

Trekking to Everest base camp can be done during pre-monsoon (February-May) and post-monsoon (September-December). The temperature of the Everest region is very cold. So trekking during other times is more challenging. During post-monsoon, we can have a better view of mountains, and a clear sky, and best for trekking.

Everest base camp trekking Itinerary:

Trekking to EBC can be done within 12-16 days but it can be extended as per requirement and the addition of other site views starting the journey from Kathmandu. Details of the itinerary are customized for your assistance.

Day 1-Arrival in Kathmandu:

Trekking to EBC starts from Kathmandu after arrival for international tourists. You can prepare for trekking along with sightseeing in Kathmandu.

Day 2-Fly to Lukla, Trek Lukla to Phakding:

Trekking to the Everest base camp starts with a short scenic flight to Lukla airport in the Everest region from Kathmandu. It is about 2651 m high from sea level. After reaching Lukla, we will head to Phakding passing through Cheplung village with a view of Mount Khumbila. It will almost take 40 minutes to reach Lukla by flight and 3-4 hrs of a trek to reach Phakding.

Day3-Trekking from Phakding to Namche bazaar:

On this day we head to Namche bazaar which is about 12 km far and takes 5 hrs. to reach. Namche Bazaar is the biggest Sherpa village and they are also known as mountain climbers. During this trial, we pass through Monjo forest which is also known as an entrance to Sagarmatha National Park, and passes through thick woodlands of pine and rhododendrons. Before we reach Namche bazaar we cross a suspension bridge over Dudh Koshi River and hike.

Day 4-Acclimatization at Namche Bazaar:

At this point, we take a break to rest and let our bodies adjust to changes in temperature. On this day we can hike to Sagarmatha National Park and enjoy the view of the mountains as well as we can hike to beautiful Khumjung village.

Day 5-Trip to Tengboche:

After hiking for 5-6 hrs we can reach Tengboche village which is famous for monasteries located within Sagarmatha national park. We can observe a Buddhist religious ceremony and end our 5th-day trek here.

Day 6-Trekking to Dingboche:

On the next day of the EBC trek, we head toward Dingboche followed by a bridge over the raging Imja Khol River. We kick off with a walk through the rhododendron forest as well as we find some difficulties due to the dry, deserted mountains. We hike for about 6 hrs and reach Dingboche.

Day 7- Dingboche – acclimatization;

We spend our day at Dingboche for rest as well as to acclimate to high altitude and change in temperature. During this time, we grab an opportunity to have stunning and shining views of mountains as well as Khumbu Khola Valley.

Day 8- Dingboche to Lobuche:

It is a short trek of about 5 hrs to Duglha at 4940 m. From here journey to EBC becomes more challenging gradually. We pass through Duglha, where stupas dedicated to climbers who lost their lives during climbing can be found. We can have amazing views of Mount Lobuche, mount Pumori as well as Mount Nuptse.

Day 9- To EBC through Gorekshep:

Our amazing trekking to Everest base camp is almost at the last point. On this day we trek Lobuche to Gorekshep and trek to EBC through rocky dunes and moraine. We approach through the glacier path and reach to base camp. We can find stunning views of mountains as well as clear sky views. Besides this, we can enjoy memorable views of other mountains and return to Gorekshep.

Day 10- Gorekshep to Kalapatthar:

Our trip starts early morning and heads to Kala Patthar almost 16 km from Gorekshep. The temperature is very cold and walks at a fairly steep a comfortable pace. We can experience an outstanding view of lingtren, Khumbu Tse, and changtse. We can find the world’s tallest mountain in front of our eyes from Kala Patthar which is the most amazing and interesting part of Everest base camp trekking. After spending some time we return to Pheriche and spend the night over there.

Day 11- Pheriche to Namche Bazaar:

Our journey to EBC ends and we head back to Namche bazaar from Pheriche. We head through the pine forest with views of mountain goats, and wildlife. We stay at Namche bazaar and rest there with beautiful memories of the Everest base camp trek.

Day 12- Back to Lukla:

We trek back to Lukla and this is our last day in the Everest region. We can view different monasteries, and villages and reach Lukla and rest there.

Day 13- Back to Kathmandu:

 Our journey to EBC ends and we return to Kathmandu with an early flight from Lukla.

Everest base camp trekking Cost

Cost for EBC trek may vary as per the Travel Company as well as the travel Itinerary along with personal expenses during the trekking. Generally, it costs about $1500 including the cost of lodging transportation as well as a permit for trekking but not including personal expenses and insurance.
